Educational Seminar: OSHA Planning and Plan Reading

Join us March 19th for 2 very relevant classes presented by Dave Yelovich from Homes Built Right.

 

We will kick off the day with "Plan Reading" from 9:30 - 11:30 in the morning.  Although plans are the basis for everything we do in home building they are often some of the most misunderstood documents we have.  In this 2 hour class we will dive into the nitty-gritty of plan reading.  We will look at architectural floor plans, elevations, and details.  We will then review some technical documents like the engineering plans.  How do we interpret the framing plans and details?  Foundation plans can often be overwhelming but we will simplify those as well.  At the end of these 2 hours you will be able to interpret and confidently share the information on these and other technical documents.

 

After a break for lunch we will reconvene to discuss a topic that literally could be the difference between life and death - Jobsite Safety.  Construction is an inherently dangerous industry - we may take this for granted.  However, if your company safety culture promotes safety seriously each and every day you can probably sleep better at night.  We will look at several documents that every company needs to keep up with in order to establish that culture.  Join us from 1:00 - 3:00 o'clock as we look at what a "safety culture" is.  We will look at the role OSHA plays in our industry and how to be prepared in case they visit your jobsite.  Finally, we will look at the most common safety violations and how to eliminate these from your jobsite.  This may be the most important class you attend this year.  By attending, you may actually save a life someday.
